“These guys are Great!

After taking my Nissan Pathfinder to Nissan of Sacramento who tried to rip me off I call David and explained to him what my problem was and he told me to bring it the the next morning. David and Carlos both patiently listened to what my problem was and what I had already done to attempt to fix it, I told them what I thought was the problem but to check it for themselves. After a few hours David called and sure enough the problem wasn't even close to what the dealer wanted to charge me in excess of $1500 to fix. They fixed my car for well under $1500 and didn't charge me a ridicules amount for labor. They also noticed that the part store sold me the wrong belt and took care of it. Got my car back the next day running perfect!

Very honest and most of all they really know what they are doing.

“If I could give 10 stars, I would! Carlos & Eric have been nothing but an absolute pleasure to work with.

I originally brought in my 2008 Prius about a year ago for a mysterious on-again-off-again check engine light. They did a full inspection, but my light happened to be off at the time, so I went on driving it for 6 or so more months before it eventually came back on a more permanent basis. When I brought my car in many months later to have it worked on, Carlos remembered everything immediately (make, model, problem with car, etc)- I was shocked! He must've worked on hundreds of cars in the months since I'd last been in the shop.

It ended up taking an additional visit, but the mysterious light was resolved and Eric honored the price I'd initially paid, even though an additional step was needed in order to resolve the issue.

All in all, these guys are not only the nicest people ever, but they're honest, personable, and do great work. I don't even live in Sacramento, and this is the only place I'll take my car!”

“Highly recommend! My journey here began after experiencing some major incompetency with my former mechanic. Before I was even a customer, Eric spent a good 20 minutes on the phone hearing me out and seemed to know exactly what the problem was before I even brought it in. Once looking it over in person, he had been spot on. He fixed my car right up and it's been running excellently ever since.

Even though I moved out of the area, I didn't want to take my car anywhere else, so dropped it off yesterday for it's 150K service. Eric was honest about doing only what needed to be done, and quoted me much lower on one of the services needed than I had been quoted elsewhere in the past.

The cherry on top is that I got stuck at work last night and since I didn't have a spare key with me to retrieve my car after hours, Eric was kind enough to drop it off to me at work! Service doesn't get better than trustworthy, reasonable, competent, and going the extra mile. Two thumbs up!”

**UPDATE**

Thank god for Japanese Imports always saving my butt! I've got an '86 Suzuki samurai and no one wants to touch it, but Eric always knows what's going on and charges me such a fair price there's no room to bargain.

They're now on the corner of 19th and Q in a beautiful spot, across the street from the new dog park and caddy corner to Fort Sutter Auto. They're in the big beautiful brick building with a yard in back. Go check out the new location and drop in for a tune-up before your smog (they're the only ones who got my car to pass).”

“I bought a car from japanese imports about a month ago. The day after, the check engine light went on and it was having some issues. I emailed them and they told me to bring it in. They put in a new air intake boot and a whole new computer at no cost to me. These guys are so nice and have so much integrity that you know theyre doing their best and not screwing you over. “Didn't need much work done but the people here are really friendly. The price for the repair was reasonable. The job was done quickly as well. I later asked about another repair and they gave me advice about doing it myself if I wanted.”

“I have been using Japanese Imports for the better part of 10 years for service on both my, and my wife's, cars. You certainly have a ton of options to choose from when it comes to auto mechanics, but finding one you trust with both your car and your wallet is hard to find.

What has been most impressive is their honesty: I took my wife's Toyota in for a 100k service after receiving a competitive quote from Japanese Imports. They called me that afternoon to tell me that they had finished the service but that there were a handful of items I paid for that her SUV didn't have. Rather than just leave it as-is (which is what I expected since I agreed to service package and price), they noticed a few other items that needed attention that were not part of the package and addressed them instead! In the end, I drove away with paying what I expected but receiving far more than I anticipated.

In my opinion, Japanese Imports is one of the best mechanics I've ever worked with. They are friendly, always competitive with their prices, do excellent work, and go out of their way to ensure that you and your car leave better than you arrive!”

“I just had my third experience with Japanese Imports and it was so good that I feel compelled to write a review. I needed a starter for my 2000 Lexus... and called around for quotes. Tracey at Japanese Imports was able to do it for 1/3 what the dealer wanted, and almost $100 less than a couple other local shops wanted to charge, and it's a new part, not rebuilt!

The service was awesome, as Tracey was able to give me a ride home when I dropped the car off (I live in Midtown), and pick me up the next day when it was done. They were able to take my car in before they closed, and it was finished around 10 am the next day! They even diagnosed a few other things at no charge and recommended some future services, but not in a sales-like way, just giving honest advice, which I appreciate.

I feel that I can really trust this shop, and I like the fact that it's a family-owned business. I've dealt with several people there and all the interactions have been very positive and gave me confidence in them. My wife and I have tried a few repair shops around the downtown/East Sac area, but from now on, we're just coming here. Highly recommended.”

“Very professional and courteous staff and owner! I'm pleased that I was referred there for help in the pinch I was in. While on business out of town last week, my car went on the blink. Not knowing where to go, my hotel referred me to a company in town that ~~come to find out~~ only did collision repair. But their courteous staff referred me to Japanese Imports for repair work. Well I wasn't disappointed. The staff were very helpful in accommodating my car's need for repair and they provided a referral to a car rental nearby. It worked out perfectly for me, and for the time I had available. “Very courteous and honest owner. Eric was sympathetic to my issue and remained open slightly passed hours so he could attempt to replicate the issue I was having with my vehicle. When the vehicle "symptoms" weren't reproducible, he suggested coming the next day, leaving it at the shop, and giving me a ride to work (5 min. Away) so they could take it out a couple times and see if the problem would appear again. They even picked me up from work! They weren't able to find the issue but I appreciated the lengths they went to to try and determine what it was.”

“Wonderful service and more than fair pricing. My check engine light was on so I failed smog. My friend has been going here for years and gave them a great recommendation. I checked on yelp and and saw pretty good reviews and decided to give this shop a shot. As it turns out they got me the lowest pricing for the part that i needed and then not only installed the part but also test drove the car to make sure it fixed the problem, took the car to the smog place to get it smogged and then sent in the electronic smog certificate all for the price of the part and then only $65 service. They also told me that I could probably save a the $65 if I just wanted to do it myself because it wasnt that hard. I don't mind paying for great service. Highly recommended.”

“My loyalty to Japanese Imports is 9 years standing. Eric the owner and Dave the Manager have renewed my trust in auto repair shops. I first took my car here when it had 22,000 miles and with 203,000 and counting they have never done me wrong.

I take it in for an oil change every 3,000 miles, they will do an overview to see if anything else needs some TLC and call me with their
advice. They will NEVER EVER over sell you or try to sell you on crap you do not need. They will also refer you to other businesses for windshields, tires etc.

“Brought my car in because I needed a new starter. Originally I was quoted a price I felt was higher than I had found elsewhere; when I explained I was a student on a limited budget, and showed them their competitor's price, they agreed to take off 25% which was very reasonable. The work was done quickly, within a few hours. They are on a nice part of J, lots of restaurants and cafes nearby if you need to wait, and rental car companies also nearby if you need one. I would bring my car here again.”
